In 2008 Becky Lavelle was named Triathlete Magazine's Short Course Triathlete of the Year. She was also the Toyota Cup Series Champion and won the Accenture Chicago Triathlon, LA Triathlon and Malibu Triathlon. In addition to consistently being a top finisher in non-drafting races Becky Lavelle was also an alternate to the 2008 US Olympic Team.
