Michael has opened his 2010 season with a convincing win at the Rohto Oceanside Ironman 70.3 triathlon. Now competing with the Trek/K-Swiss Team, Michael continued to show his 2009 championship form.

At the 2009 Ironman 70.3 World Championship, Michael had a strong swim and a consistent ride, remaining among the leaders on the tight Clearwater course. Michael was the 13th into the second transition, but then ran a blazing 1:09:06 half marathon to finish to win the 70.3 World Championship by almost 3 minutes.
