March 27, 2010 - Germany's Michael Raelert and Australia s Mirinda Carfrae captured wins at the 2010 Rohto Ironman 70.3 California, an event in its eleventh year. Raelert, the reigning 70.3 World Champion who also set a course record at the Clearwater event, finished with an overall time of 3:58:27. Former Ironman 70.3 World Champion, Carfrae took the lead on the run and crossed the line at 4:20:29.

Carfrae saw competition with a strong women's field and while Leanda Cave led out of water and entered transition in first after the 56-mile bike, Carfrae made up time in T2. She quickly took over and celebrated a blistering run split, completing the half-marathon course in 1 hour, 17 minutes, the same time in which Raelert completed the run course today.

Approximately 2,200 competitors at the start line, saw cool conditions and water temperature at 59 degrees Fahrenheit. Finishers, after completing a 1.2-mile swim, a 56-mile bike and a 13.1-mile run, were greeted with sunny skies, low humidity and temperatures in the mid 70s.
